The company is leading the way in the exploration of newly discovered properties of Heather Honey. Its health-giving ingredients are now understood to be the rival of much-vaunted Manuka Honey from New Zealand. For most of its existence, there has been almost no demand for Manuka Honey, but the discovery of its health benefits caused its sales and its price to sky-rocket internationally. Heather Honey has claims to be the rival if not superior to Manuka honey in this respect.
As well as planning to build a growing brand to rival Manuka Honey, The Scottish Bee Company is also working on a national level to re-pollinate Britain. Its profits are making a contribution to new charity, RePollinate, which is working on this crucial task to help reverse the potentially dangerous species loss among Britain’s pollinators.
Upon completion of the investment, Tim Sykes will be taking up the role of Chairman of the Board as Green Angel Syndicate's representative.
Tim has extensive experience of governance and finance following a long career in the City. This includes roles at UK Financial Investments and green finance leaders HSBC and Credit Agricole.
Tim says: ''I am delighted to be able to help The Scottish Bee Company at this crucial time in its development. The company has an excellent team, product, brand, approach and potential. I look forward to contributing to their continued success.''
Green Angel Syndicate CEO, Nick Lyth, comments: “This is a core investment for Green Angels. It is a strong commercial proposition which brings with it the potential to transform our ecosystem. It is one of the many nature-based solutions we need so desperately now to address the consequences of global warming.”
Co-founder Suzie Millar has welcomed this new investment: “Green Angel Syndicate has filled this investment round. It brings so much more than money. For a company at our early stage of development, the value added in terms of management skills is almost as important as the value of the money itself. We are looking forward to working together.”
